How To Create A Chatbot on Facebook Messenger with NO CODING

Last Updated: February 15, 2018By Tags:

Are your emails getting lost in inboxes and never getting opened? It’s time to build an engagement funnel that your audience will love. Messenger bots have impressive open rates of 70% or more. The good news: you can build your first chatbot in 10 minutes with no coding experience.

What You’ll Need

  • A Facebook Page (this integrates with ManyChat for account creation)
  • A ManyChat account (free to start)

Step 1: Collect Messenger Subscribers

To collect subscribers, use the Slide-In option within ManyChat. This pop-up slides in from the screen edge when readers visit your website. From your dashboard, navigate to Growth Tools and select Slide-In to begin. You can adjust when the pop-up appears — immediately upon landing, after scrolling, after a time delay, or upon reaching specific page elements.

Step 2: Craft Your Chatbot Copy

Tell your audience why they should subscribe. Start with a compelling headline and personalize the call-to-action button text. Add an image to increase engagement and customize placement options. Control how frequently the same user sees the pop-up.

Step 3: Design the Thank You Page

Create a thank-you pop-up within ManyChat or redirect users to an external landing page. Include a short personal message directing subscribers to their Facebook Messenger for promised content.

Step 4: Create Your Opt-In Message

Your first bot message should be straight to the point, outlining clear expectations of the bot experience. Include unsubscribe instructions. Add images or videos and subscribe users to your onboarding sequence.

Step 5: Put Your Bot On Your Website

Click “Install Javascript Snippet” in ManyChat and authorize your website by entering its URL. Copy the provided code and paste it into the head section of every page. In WordPress, use a header and footer plugin to implement this easily.

Step 6: Deploy and Engage

Set your bot to Active in the top right corner of your ManyChat dashboard. Create an engagement campaign through the Automation section under Sequence — similar to email drip campaigns but with superior open and click rates.
